Hello, all!
I can't believe it's been almost a week since I've arrived here in beautiful Oviedo. I wake up every single morning in awe of not only the gorgeous mountains and views, but also the fact that I'm living in SPAIN of all places. I love it here. But of course I miss all of you back at home, too.
I have so much to tell but not enough time to tell it all! For those of you who don't know, I'm living with a host mom (Fernanda) who has a ten year old son (Jesús) and a dauchsand named Maggie. I can understand Jesús a little more than I can Fernanda, but that's because he knows English and that I'm just a "chica americana" and need more time to think. But I'm amazed at how much more I can comprehend and speak each day. It's honestly a little hard to write in English right now! Anyways, I'm also living with another student: Julie. We, along with seven other students, ride the bus into the city and back every day. Then we have a ten-fifteen minute walk to school. I'm slowly getting used to the amount of walking and stair-climbing.
Yesterday was the first day of classes, and my teachers, though I love them all, gave us a TON of homework for this weekend. Just what I wanted. But as all of us students say, "no pasa nada." Tomorrow Fernanda and her friend Salomé (who also is hosting two students, Chela y Ángela) are taking us all to Salomé's house in the mountains. Can't wait!
Now I'm off to go shopping with Fernanda, Salomé, Julia, Ángela, Chela, and friends of Fernanda! Next week I'll try to upload pictures of what has quickly become one of my favorite places in the world.
Until then,
Magdalena
